Common questions

The dose seems too small (or too large)

Doses are calculated from your spa’s water volume and your chemical’s product strength, both set in the app’s settings (gear icon on the Home screen). Double-check that your volume matches your spa’s manual โ€” most hot tubs hold 300โ€“500 gallons โ€” and that the product strength matches the label on your actual chemical container (for example, 56% vs. 99% dichlor).

Reminders aren’t firing

Check that notifications are allowed for SpaCheckup in iOS Settings โ†’ Notifications. Reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device, so they work without any internet connection โ€” but iOS Focus modes and Scheduled Summary can delay them.

How do I change my spa size, sanitizer, or units?

Tap the gear icon on the Home screen. Changes take effect immediately and apply to your next water test.

Can I move my data to a new phone?

SpaCheckup’s data is stored only on your device, and it is included in your standard iPhone backup. Restoring a new phone from an iCloud or computer backup brings your settings and treatment history with it.

I found a bug

We want to know! Email support@spacheckup.com with what you expected, what happened instead, and a screenshot if you can. Bug reports from real spa owners are how the app gets better.

Refunds

Purchases are handled by Apple, so refund requests go through them: visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, and select your SpaCheckup purchase.

A note on chemical advice. SpaCheckup’s target ranges are based on industry-standard water-chemistry guidelines published by the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA). Always follow your chemical product’s label, and never mix chemicals directly with each other. The app is not a substitute for professional water testing.
